What can be achieved with tooth whitening?

We have been whitening teeth successfully for 20 years. Our treatment programmes are designed to give you predictable long lasting whitening without suffering from the side effects of sensitivity. Our results show that the treatment is safe and effective and can be long lasting provided you maintain your beautiful smile with regular check ups and professional cleaning. Simple cases will take approximately 4-6 weeks, more complex whitening cases take up to 12 weeks but again, the dentists at Beechwood  will evaluate your teeth and discuss treatment options with you.

Advanced whitening, ‘Icon’ and microabrasion

Microabrasion is a chemical and mechanical technique that is used to remove many types of discolorations and white spots. White spots on teeth are very common. They may be caused due to a lack of calcium (Hypocalcification) in areas of tooth enamel. There are many reasons for white spots to form including

  • Fluorosis – this occurs when there is a very high fluoride intake when the adult teeth are developing.
  • Family genetics
  • Wearing braces causing decalcification – this is the loss of minerals from the enamel and can occur during fixed braced treatment if there has been a lapse in excellent oral hygiene around the brackets as it is difficult to brush your teeth.
  • Enamel erosion due to plaque
  • Molar or Incisal Hypoplasia
  • Acid reflux
  • White spots on adult teeth due to trauma as a baby

Some deeper white spots cannot be removed by microabrasion alone. Here at Beechwood we are using a revolutionary treatment called Icon, which can improve the appearance of white spots or a mottled appearance of teeth without an injection or drilling. This minimally invasive technique uses a process of infiltration of resin to blend the white spots with the rest of the tooth. The resin takes on the appearance of the surrounding healthy enamel resulting in a beautiful, healthy and aesthetically pleasing smile (from £200 per tooth)
